Tom Selleck-2American actor Thomas William Selleck. His breakthrough role was as Thomas Magnum (private investigator) in the television series Magnum. (1980-1988) during which time he was awarded five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in the Drama Series with the winner being announced in 1985. From 2010 until the year 2010, Selleck has played New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. In nine television movies inspired by the Robert B. Parker novels the actor played Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief from a small town, beginning in 2005. Selleck also played Peter Mitchell who was a student architect who is a student architect in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and Three Men and A Little Lady(1990). In addition, he has appeared in more than 50 other film and television roles since Magnum, P.I., including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter, baseball. He was the television character of Monica Geller's love lovers Dr. Richard Burke and Lance White on Friends. Additionally the role of A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played a character in the television western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
